OP
Our Ilorin West cooperative started with 12 members and ₦600,000 pooled capital in 2024. Today we have 34 members, own 2 tractors, and operate a 50-hectare shared farm. Lessons: have a clear written constitution from day one. Open a dedicated cooperative bank account immediately. Monthly meetings and transparent financial reporting prevent conflict. Get registered with the Ministry of Agriculture for access to subsidised inputs. I'm happy to share our constitution template.

Thank you for sharing this. Very useful for farmers in my area. I'll definitely apply these tips on my farm this season.

Great information! I've been struggling with this exact problem. Can you share the contact details of your supplier or agent?

I had a similar experience. What worked for me was consulting with the state ADP extension officers. They offer free farm visits in some states.

This is gold! I'll be sharing with my cooperative members at our next meeting. We need more discussions like this on the platform.

Excellent post. One addition I'd make: always keep records. A simple notebook tracking inputs, costs, and yields makes a big difference come year-end.

I disagree slightly – timing is everything in farming. The advice here is good but won't work equally in all states due to different soil types.

I tried this approach last year and it worked well. The only challenge was sourcing quality inputs on time. Plan early!
